Ipoh Treats began not as a business, but as years of walking, observing, tasting, and understanding how places truly live.
Rooted in Ipoh, our journey started with documenting local food and everyday culture through Google Maps, Facebook, Xiaohongshu, and TikTok. These ground-level contributions gradually became trusted references for travelers seeking depth rather than highlights. As a Google Local Guide (Level 7), our verified work has reached millions organically — built on consistency, usefulness, and respect for place.
Meaningful cultural experiences require more than passion. They require knowledge, structure, and responsibility. For this reason, Ipoh Treats is grounded in formal tourism, heritage, and interpretation training, including Continuing Tourism Related Education (CTRE) under Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), as well as archaeological and community heritage interpretation training at the Lenggong UNESCO World Heritage Site conducted by Universiti Sains Malaysia.
Beyond heritage and food, our work also engages with geopark and biodiversity-led community tourism. Through exposure to ecological trails, indigenous cultural expressions, and community-led initiatives within the Kinta Valley Geopark, we recognise that sustainable travel must respect ecology, local stewardship, and cultural boundaries.
While Ipoh remains our core strength, our approach naturally extends to surrounding towns and selected cultural cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, and Penang — guided by the same principle: understanding before presentation.
At Ipoh Treats, travel is not about consumption.
It is about connection, responsibility, and learning to see places as they are lived.
